I leaned into the colour palette to create a feeling of unease, illuminating the highlights with a candy coral pink against a desaturated mint-sage. As a child I was terrified of the dark, often seeing looming figures and leering faces in shadows and hidden corners. I drew from this fear and planted these visions into unassuming tree trunks.
